Week in Review:
Before class starts next Tuesday (5/31), you’ll have accomplished the following:
- Completed a week of Daily Shoot photos.
- Completed your chosen 3 or 4 visual or design assignments.
- Continued to modify and customize your own site.
- Continued to blog about the class and share your work.
- Set up an RSS reader (like Google Reader) to monitor your classmates’ work.
- Listened and responded to the second and third TAL episodes.
- Read Radio and watched Ira Glass’ four-part video series on storytelling (in preparation for audio stories).
- Installed Audacity and the LAME encoder in preparation for audio stories.
- Sign up for a meeting with Martha next week.
Monday 5/23/11
- Discussion of Web 2.0 and Creative Commons readings from last week.
- Discussion and reactions to TAL episode.
- Choose second TAL episode.
- Introduction to RSS and OPML files. Setting up Google Reader to monitor classmates’ blogs.
- Open workshop time: time to work on your story assignments, further customize your sites, etc.

- Make sure you’ve listened to second TAL episode and shared your response.
- Read Radio: An Illustrated Guide.
Thursday 5/19/11
- Review of visual and design stories and Daily Shoot.
- Choose third TAL episode.
- Introduction to Audio Storytelling
Assignments
- If you haven’t already, make sure all of your selected visual and design stories are done and posted on your blog.
- Sign up for a time to meet with me next week.
- Make sure you’ve listened to third TAL episode and responded on your blog.
- Install Audacity and the LAME encoder (as discussed in class) on your computer.
- Attempt to use Audacity to record a short audio where you share a story. Post your results on your blog. If you run into difficulty, use your blog to tell us what happened, how you tried to address the problems, etc.
